| Gay, Lesbian, Bi-Sexual and Trans-gendered issues Gay: term used to generally describe when a male is physically or sexually attracted to another male. Also used to generalize any physical intimacy between 2 people of the same gender or to denote feminine actions a man takes (real or perceived) Lesbian: term used to generally describe when a females is physically or sexually attracted to another female. Bi-Sexual: used to denote people that participate in sexual acts of intimacy with both genders Trans-gendered: Put simply, it’s when a person of one gender believed they should be a person of another gender. Some go and have sex changes. Some do not. How are people gay? There are generally 3 trains of thought…homosexuality is either biologically or environmentally caused or a combination of both. Much research recently has shown connections that people are born gay with a whole host of different reasons how this might be explained. Other research shows no biological differences in people that claim they are gay and thus, would seem to prove environmental causes and a choice (making it a behavior). If a teen thinks they may be gay, there are multiple sources that may help you and give you support. Please see the section labeled LGBT to the right of this webpage for more resources. |
